Soda Tab Jewelry: “TabsByAlex”

Alex Hamilton

I am Alex Hamilton, a senior at HPA.

Abstract

My project is making and selling sustainable jewelry. I started collecting soda tabs at a New Year’s Eve party of 2021. I always enjoyed crafting and I saw the potential in soda tabs, so I started making jewelry for myself since it was cheap and sustainable. I started experimenting and making pieces that I had not seen anywhere else. I got a lot of compliments on my jewelry and lots of questions on where I got it or how I made it, so I wanted to start making it for other people. I saw capstone as an opportunity to make and sell jewelry so people can have some pieces of sustainable jewelry of their own and so I can continue doing what I love: crafting and making jewelry.

Milestones

Ideation (SEPT 10)

Soda Tab Jewelry

Students at HPA and lots of people in Waimea wear lots of jewelry and accessories. Jewelry can make people feel better about themselves, raises confidence, or completes an outfit. In the rise of an environmentally conscious society, people are turning towards sustainable accessories and small businesses to shop at. Additionally, unique art forms can be created through recycling and intrigues many people. A solution would be to create jewelry and accessories made from recycled materials, such as soda tabs and cans. Part of the profit can be donated to a sustainability organization in order to help the planet more.
