Sakura Nagai

Hi! My name is Sakura Nagai and I’m from Osaka, Japan. I came to HPA in my Junior year. Before coming to HPA, I studied abroad in Malaysia for two years. I’m passionate about traveling, taking photography. and playing the guitar. Since I started playing guitar two years ago, it has become a very important and favorite thing for me. Singing has been a passion of mine since I was very young, and I grew up being influenced by foreign singers and Japanese artists. I also look forward to working with people who have different ideas and styles of music. I am very attracted to the creative and unique world of music, and I hope I can express myself with this capstone. Please enjoy my capstone page!! → Instagram @saku-music-

Abstract

Why make an album?

I’m passionate about starting to make albums, and here are some reasons why. I believe that music can give us “hope” by listening, playing, and being exposed to music. I want to be a creative and engaging artist who helps people explore music more. Also, by learning and taking Mr. Flores’s classes. I can collaborate with students who love music and have a different perspective. Also because I want to create a more mindful album with feedback and some guidelines. I’m very happy to be in the music Capstone because One of my dreams is to delve deeper into music and create original compositions.

Milestones

Ideation (SEPT 10)

Music affects our lives in many ways, and it can help people in many ways: listening, singing, playing instruments, learning, and collaborating. I believe that music can express human connections and feelings through songs, melodies, and lyrics. I want people to know more that music is one of the best ways to share experiences, happiness, sadness, and deep emotions that connect people. By listening to music, it will remain powerful in uniting people. For example, you can easily listen to traditional songs to know the culture and identity. It will have an impact on your mood and reduce stress as well as mental illness. Music is a great resource to talk about and communicate with people in a society. It is also known as one of the functions of the brain, which improves memory and motivation. I want to share that thinking deeply about music, rather than just listening to a famous song because someone else is listening to it, has many benefits for us. Also, I emphasize that it is full of the greatest variety, and that will transform into something more meaningful for each of us. I want to express myself through music and give hope to high school students by thinking about the problems, concerns, and feelings we have.

Demo/Prototype Recording my song, 21/11/2021

  • Today, for the first time in my life, I recorded an original song working with Kim. It was such a great experience and I enjoyed making it. The process we created was to record my guitar first. And then my singing voice. By separating the parts into two, I was able to concentrate on the guitar and vocals separately. On the guitar, it was difficult to record properly and rhythmically without making mistakes, so it took me a long time. But recording the vocals was a lot of fun, and we were both very happy when it was done. It was also great to learn how other artists create their songs in the studio.
