Abstract
Have you ever wondered how busy families in the Waimea community get fresh produce? Well, I have wondered about this because I love our school garden and I think that the Waimea community should have a place to get fresh produce easily. I think that there is a need in the community for a Waimea community garden and many people have been looking into creating a community garden but they don’t have the land to. My idea would be to start a community garden in the land in front of Waiaka house. I would create the plans of the garden’s layout and take into consideration how windy and rainy it is in Waimea in these plans. I would like to pitch to the school my plans for the garden and possibly get the right permission to make the garden available to all of the Waimea community. I plan to have service days that can give students the opportunity to get community service hours for helping me make the garden possible. I want this garden to continue even after my capstone project because I want this garden to be available for years to come. I can make that a reality by finding mentors that are willing to help me through the process of creating and perpetuating this garden. I can accomplish this project because I spend a lot of time working in the garden and have mentors like Mr.Quayle to teach me the specifics of gardening and producing a successful garden. I am asking for financial resources from the community for sustainable materials and the communities time and the land to make this project become a reality.
